As we fast approach the end of the year, I have decided to celebrate all my achievements through the year, big or small, irrespective of whether they were part of my initial ‘New Year Resolutions’ list.
I have been setting New-Year’s Resolutions for as long as I can remember, with goals mainly around my weight reduction.
In January, I wrote my resolutions with hope and excitement, dreams of who I wanted to become, things I wanted to achieve, and habits I wanted to master.
My New Year Resolutions felt like a map to a better version of myself but were mostly too ambitious or that I lacked the motivation to see them through past the first month!
This time, instead of focusing on what didn’t happen, I am celebrating what did. I am shifting my focus from goals to progress, consistency over comparison, and gratitude over goals, because real growth is about transformation, awareness, and resilience…. though, amazingly I did TICK A HUGE BOX this year – I married the most wonderful man!
Goal 1 – Lose weight (10 kgs)
I have become more consistent in eating healthier and exercising whenever I can and getting more active in general. There is still time to the end of the year to achieve this goal realistically!
Goal 2 – Marry
Seemed impossible, but I did it. I married the most loving man, perfectly suited for me!
Goal 3 – Improve my home life
Since my marriage, our home has blossomed into a cohesive space of peace, harmony, fun, and laughter. My children and parents have embraced my husband like ducks to water!
Goal 4 – Improve my work life
I manifested this big time. I now have the most wonderful BOSS and a dream team! Every day at work feels inspiring, supportive, and full of growth!
Goal 5 – Serve others
Whether it is opening a door or letting a car pass, I love serving, in small ways and big. For the past four years, I have been part of two children’s charities and recently joined a cat shelter charity supporting furry friends across Australia. Service fills my heart, and I know this journey has only just begun…
Goal 6 – Improve my dances
My dance had become mundane…but oh boy have I stepped right into the rhythm of creative dancing!
Goal 7 – Build stronger relationships
I have deepened connections that matter and released those who did not respect or value me instead drained my energy.
This reflection is not about comparing dreams to outcomes, or how perfectly I followed the plan, but about honouring who I have become in the process, how deeply I have grown along the way – where every challenge has taught me something new, every delay has built patience, and every detour is part of my journey!
Next year, instead of writing long lists of resolutions, I will write intentions that will guide rather than pressure me.
Here is to ‘celebrating how far we have come’ – Happy (fast approaching) END of the YEAR!
